The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist

The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist

Happy July everybody!  July is one of my favourite months of the year.  Firstly because today (1 July) is my wedding anniversary, secondly because it’s in the middle of my favourite season (winter) and finally – it’s my birthday month!

Sadly this year will be a slightly different birthday.  I’m used to going for dinner with my family and close friends to celebrate – that won’t be an option.  I always have a get together, be it a braai, a potjie, or a themed party – DEFINITELY won’t be doing that.  Birthdays are always a time to spend with the people I love, and thanks to the Covid 19 pandemic and social distancing, I can’t do that this year.

One thing that I will keep as tradition is my annual birthday wishlist.  Basically, this is a lust-list of all the products I’ve had my eye on either recently or for some time.  We all have these, even if they’re mental notes of things we’d love.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I do not expect everything in these images.  This is merely a list of things I’ve had my eye on.
  • I do not even expect one thing from these images – it would be extremely privileged to make a list and count off the things I hope to get off of it (especially in these times).
  • I love to read wishlists and gift guides from my favourite content creators and bloggers – they often let me know about products I didn’t know about, and would love to try.
  • Wishlists are just a great way to introduce people to some beautiful things they maybe had no idea existed.

Without further ado, let’s get into it!

MY ULTIMATE BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

Fashion

The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist, Sugar & Spice

3.Bena Women Travel Track Set in Navy R1150 – This would be amazing for both travel and for lounging around the house in.

2.Gemma Orkin Light Grey Greyhound Bowl R250 from Poetry – Apparently this can be used by you OR your dog.  I’d definitely use it myself!  There are so few beautiful greyhound items out there!

3.Madame Luna Fresh Ginger Amber Bell Jar candle R345 – My mom actually gifted me the Black Amber candle like this, and it smells divine.  I haven’t even lit it yet, I keep saying I’m saving it for our new house.

The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist, Sugar & Spice

1.Creation Pinot Noir Gin R375 – Ever since this launched, I’ve been dying to taste it.  I can only imagine just how amazing it is!

2.Hendricks Midsummer Solstice Gin R549 – I’m already a big fan of Hendricks gin, and not only is this bottle just beautiful, but the gin itself sounds delicious.

3.Crystallum ‘Peter Max’ Pinot Noir R314 – This was one of the Pinot Noirs that were suggested to me at the beginning of June.  Described as ‘loaded with crushed strawberry, cranberry and blueberry fruit’, there is no denying it’ll be sublime.

4.Leonista Honey Reposado Mezcal R499 – Yes, I love tequila!  Leonista is the only agave spirit in the country made using the traditional method, and this is infused with raw honey.

5.Gabrielskloof Rosebud Rosé R99 – We visited Gabrielskloof for lunch, the week we were in Hermanus for my sister in law’s wedding in 2018.  This rosé is made using 2 of my favourite grapes – syrah and viognier – so it should be delicious.

6.Poetry G & T infusions R225 – I love these infusion kits for your G & T’s, they make your drink taste great and look beautiful.

7.Sugarbird 5 Mini Gins collection – I can now not find this ANYWHERE online, although it was originally on Yuppiechef.  I know that my local Tops sells them, for around R200?  It’s a fab way to test out all of the Sugarbird gins before choosing which full size (or sizes) to repurchase!

8.MaMere Salted Macadamia Nougat R45 – Because nougat is delicious, and MaMere makes some of the best in the business.

9.Meerlust Rubicon R499 – I’ve been lucky enough to taste this at one of the many wine expos I’ve attended over the years.  It is SUPERB.

10.Karak Tea Cardamom flavour – I have bought the boxes of 10 sachets of this delicious instant spiced tea, and am OBSESSED.  This flavour tastes like dessert, like liquid burfee.  I keep saying I’ll buy the big bag of it, and store it in a pretty glass jar!  You can purchase these from The Happiness Factory (linked in the name).

11.Coco Safar City Roast Havana Coffee Bio-Capsules R149 – I’ve been dying to try these Coco Safar coffee capsules, and while the flavour profile sounds great, I’d by lying if I didn’t want to try these partly because my little pup’s name is Havana.

12.Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir R394 – The original Pinot Noir that enchanted me, I have my brother in law to blame for this one.  After sharing bottles with them for the past couple of years, I am obsessed.

13.Six Dogs Distillery Pinotage Stained Gin R450 – Six Dogs was one of the first craft gins I fell in love with, so I’ve been so keen to try out their new offering.  The packaging is beautiful, and apparently the taste is even better.

Body and Hair

The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist, Sugar & Spice

1.Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Toilette Twist & Spray set R1740 for 60ml – I think this fragrances goes on my wishlist every single year.  I just adore this little travel set, with 3 refills.  In fact, this is cheaper than a 50ml bottle, and you’re getting an extra 10ml of fragrance!

2.Goldwell Dual Senses Color Revive Color Giving Conditioner in Light Cool Blonde R350 – Goldwell is the brand used when I colour my hair, and I absolute love it.  These new colour conditioners sound amazing, and I’d love to try them out.

3.Vita Liberata Phenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse in Medium R1250 – Wow, but over the past year I have fallen in love with the Vita Liberata brand.  I have their rapid tanning mousse and I love it, so I’d love to put their longer lasting one to the test too.

4.REN Aha Smart Renewal Body Serum R825 – I heard so many great things about this moisturising and exfoliating body serum.  REN products are fabulous.

5.Jo Malone London Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne R970 for 30ml – My absolute favourite fragrance from Jo Malone.

6.Woolworths Le Bain Rosewood Spice foam bath R220 – This foam bath smells gorgeous, and I love the packaging to keep around my bath.

Skincare

The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist, Sugar & Spice

1.Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask R385 – I am a lip balm addict, and have always wanted to try out this lip mask, especially the berry flavour!  It’s apparently a real treat for your lips.

2.Africology Intense Hydration Night Treatment R486.50 – I have been so intrigued about the Africology brand since Shan Fourie mentioned this treatment.  I also had some of their products used on my during a facial at Zimbali last year and my skin just glowed afterwards!

3.NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Florale Multi-Use Dry Oil R494 – I have owned and loved the original formula of this dry oil, and a small shimmer one.  This floral version sounds absolutely stunning, and I’d love to see if it’s as good as the others.

4.Tony Moly Strawberry Seed 3-step Nose Pack R40 – The BEST pore strip you will ever use.  I used to buy mine from Pink Cosmetics, and I’m so happy to see someone else is importing them!

6.Lamelle Corrective Hydrating HA Plus R680 – I’m still on my hunt to try hydrating serums, as I have dehydrated skin (which has been battling all the more this time of year).  I’ve had this one on my radar for a while.

7.Mario Badescu Peptide Renewal Cream R575 – You guys know I’m a big fan of the Peptide Renewal Serum, so I would LOVE to see how the cream compares.

8.Optiphi Complexion Control R1310 – BEST SKINCARE PRODUCT I’ve tried in the last year.  I have a full review on it HERE.

9.By Terry Baume de Rose Crayon R590 – I used a sample of the pot version and became obsessed, it’s so luxurious and just really does intensely nourish your lips.  I love the easy application the crayon will give.

10.Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Wine R415 for 30/R30 for a single – I love an exfoliating product, and this is one with wine in it – what’s not to love?

11.GLAMGLOW Moisturetrip R695 – I only saw this while browsing the internet recently, and had no idea that it had been launched.  Rich in omegas, this claims to be creamy, yet lightweight, and great for calming irritation and redness, while being very hydrating.

12.By Wishtrend Acid Duo 2% Mild Gel Cleanser R395 – Shan also caught my attention when she mentioned this cleanser, and I’ve been dying to try it ever since.

13.Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm R1050 – The most luxurious cleansing balm I’ve ever heard about, I’d love to just dip my whole face into this and bask in the glory.

14.Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Good Night’s Sleep Restoring Cream R395 – Does this product name not call out to you?  This sounds like a dream come true in a pretty blue jar!  Plus it contains lavender and honeysuckle, so I can only imagine how luxurious and relaxing it must be to use.

15.SKIN Functional Hydration Juice 2% HA + 4% B5 R280 – Recently I happened upon the SKIN Functional brand, which looks to be a South African kind of The Ordinary vibe.  This is such a great price, and I’d love to see how it compares to TO one.

16.Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask R535 – This is an exceptional moisture mask, as I had a travel size one last year that I took with me on every trip.  I’d love the full size to use once or twice a week.

17.Lamelle Serra Restore R515 – An intense moisturiser and barrier cream that I’ve heard so many amazing things about, I obviously would love to try it myself.

18.REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask R695 – An incredible exfoliating mask, I’ve gone through not one but two of these in my lifetime, and I absolutely love it.

19.Mamonde Flower Lab Essence Mask Rose R50 – Being the sheet mask nut that I am, I’d love to get my hands on any and all sheet masks.  But there is something about the packaging of this one that makes you want to never use it, and just keep it on display.

Makeup

The Ultimate Birthday Wishlist, Sugar & Spice

1.Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip R1499 – 2 full size and 6 deluxe travel sized lip products, from brands I’ve always wanted to try.  All in one box!  This actually has that Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in too, so it’d kill 2 birds with 1 stone.  Other brands are Milk Makeup, Fresh, Inc., Sephora, Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty and Too Faced.

2.Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in Luminous Light R1600 – I have wanted the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders for so so long.  This one in Luminous Light (and the Dim Light) are probably my 2 favourites, and this way I can try other products in the Ambient collection.

3.Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray R495 – I was a big fan of the Chill setting spray, which seems to have been discontinued now.  This is one of Urban Decay’s best sellers, so it must be even better!

4.By Terry Game Lighter Palette Pixie Nude 02 R750 – This palette from By Terry (a brand quickly becoming a favourite) is absolutely exquisite.

5.Lanolips The #1 Essential Lip Tint Trio R750 – I just finished up the Lanolips LemonAid, which I actually cut open and scraped out, it was so good.  This is a trio of tinted lip balms from the brand, which I would love.  It’s so rich and nourishing.

6.Benefit Georgia Golden Peach Blush R445 – You’ll always find a number of Benefit products on any wishlist of mine, so this year is no exception.  This is the most beautiful shade of blush!

7.Revolution Rachel Palette R275 – Face and eye products in one gorgeous palette, and all shades I’d use?  YES PLEASE!

8.By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Black Pearl R660 – I own the shade Bronze Moon and am obsessed with the colour and formula.  It is so easy to use and blend, and once dried down it doesn’t budge.  The Black Pearl would be amazing for smokey eyes.

9.Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation shade 2 R550 – Friends of mine have been saying how much they love this foundation, so I’d love to try it out myself.

10.MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle R515 – An infamous MAC product, I’ve long yearned to dust my cheekbones with this highlight.

11.Benefit Lovetint Lip & Cheek Stain R330 – Of all the Lip & Cheek Stains from Benefit, this shade is probably the one the calls out to me the most.

15.Revlon Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish in Act Natural R169 – Jessica van Heerden has made this gloss a household name in SA, particularly this shade.  It just screams juicy.

16.Lipstick Queen Bête Noire Possessed Intense R347 – I love deep, dark lippies, and this shade is no exception.  Look how intense and dark it is, and the packaging is beautiful.

17.Elizabeth Arden Dual End Foundation Brush R450 – The shape of this foundation brush is so unique, and I love that it’s double ended with another style of brush at the other end – I figure I’d get SO much use out of this!

I have some lovely Woolies slippers at the moment, so I’m all set lol.
I have been looking at those Cape island candles, most definitely won’t be buying them now.

I once saw an Estee Lauder body lotion that was around R4000… if it costs that to moisturise my skin, it had better be self tanning it, getting rid of hair, bumps, celluliate and all that in one easy hit haha
