EMPTIES – Body Care

BODY CARE EMPTIES

I hadn’t planned on posting another Empties again, however my bag that I throw all of my empty products into was busting at the seams.

I’ve collected this over a LONG period of time.  Some products were new, and I loved them so much that I powered through them.  Others were ones that I had on hand for an age, and were halfway finished or only had a couple more uses left in them, so I finished them up to create space.

Read on for all the Body Care empties!

Lotions and Potions

LOTIONS, BUTTERS, CREAMS

I have to say that I am really good about applying body lotion – I don’t see it as a possible thing to do only when my skin feels dry.  My skin cannot handle not having lotion on, as I’m just so accustomed to it being part of my normal routine.  Hence me having multiple cream/lotion/butter empties

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Buttercream
You won’t find this here in South Africa – I had to order it from the UK, but it is DIVINE.  You get a huge tub of this rich cream that doesn’t leave your skin greasy or sticky – it just sinks right in, and it smells like creamy pistachio ice cream.  It’s made using 5 different nourishing oils, so it’s great for dry winter skin, yet I’ve finished it up this summer and it really wasn’t too heavy for me.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

TBS Blueberry Body Butter
Last year I fell in love with The Body Shop body butters all over again.  These 3 were my absolute favourites.  The Blueberry one is fresh and fruity and smells absolutely delicious.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

TBS Vineyard Peach Body Butter
This version smells like peach-flavoured Tropika, and it’s just creamy and yummy.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Both of my Lush empties – the Snow Fairy Body Conditioner and the Christingle Body Conditioner – were Christmas limited edition products.  They’re both in-shower body moisturisers that nourish the skin while you’re in the shower, so there’s no need to apply lotion when you’ve dried off.  Snow Fairy smells just like the matching shower gel – like candy floss and cherries.  Christingle was a fresh, minty body conditioner with menthol in as well, and I used this up while I was sick with a cold, as it was super soothing.

Would I repurchase them? Definitely Snow Fairy.  Although I liked the Christingle one, I don’t know if I’d repurchase it.

TBS Early Harvest Raspberry Body Butter
This is my all-time favourite body butter from The Body Shop.  It smells like delicious raspberry jam – it’s sweet, so if you aren’t into that, then don’t go there, but it leaves you soft and scented like a yummy pudding or sweet.  My fiance is desperate for me to get my hands on more of these, since I went through 2 tubs of them last year!

Would I repurchase it? Yes! The only thing that’s stopped me is that I’m trying to finish up some of my other lotions first.

Sorbet Bye Bye Bump lotion
I gave this a try after a therapist at Sorbet recommended it.  I’d been battling with ingrown hairs despite regular exfoliation.  It worked pretty well, as long as I remembered to apply it regularly!

Would I repurchase? Yes, if I have the need again.

L’Occitane Almond Delicious Hands hand cream
I was given this by my mom, after she received it in a free gift with purchase.  It’s a lovely almond milk-filled hand cream, and I absolutely loved it, but at R145 for only the travel size, I just can’t justify that for a hand cream.

Would I repurchase? If I was looking to spoil myself, yes.  Otherwise, it would make a great gift 😉

Soap & Glory Hand Food
My all time favourite hand cream, this smells slightly sweet, but not overpoweringly so.  I’ve gone through countless tubes of this stuff, and am so sad we can’t buy it here.  It really is the best hand cream I’ve ever used.

Would I repurchase? As soon as I can!

Scrubs

Hey Gorgeous Strawberry Daiquiri body scrub
I got given this last year at a blogger meet-up in Durban, from the owner of Hey Gorgeous, who gave us a talk on the brand.  It was absolutely delicious – just the right amount of scrub, and it smells exactly like a strawberry daiquiri!

Would I repurchase? Yes, I just need to work through one of the other scrubs I currently have in my shower.

Delight Bath Essentials Creme Sand Scrub Orange and Ginger
I received this scrub in a Bellebox sometime last year (a lovely South African subscription box, where you get an assortment of beauty goodies each month).  Sadly, it leaked in the box a little, but it had the most gorgeous scent.  It wasn’t quite scrubby enough for me though.

Would I repurchase?  Probably not – I prefer my scrubs to have a bit more grit to them.

Body wash

Palmolive Gourmet Spa Mint Shake Shower Cream
I’ve reviewed this already, so if you’ve read those posts you’ll know just how much I loved this shower cream.  It smells exactly like mint chip ice cream, which is one of my favourites!

Would I repurchase? As soon as I find it in a store again.

Creightons Vanilla & Macadamia Cocoon Bath and Shower Cream
I bought this after reading about it on All Dolled Up, and I didn’t regret it at all.  It smells creamy and sweet and yummy, and did a great job at cleaning without drying out my skin.  We can buy it in Pick n Pay for around R50-R60, but I couldn’t find a link.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

TBS Blueberry Shower Gel
Just as with the body butter, I loved this scent.  Fruity and fresh.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

TBS Early Harvest Raspberry Shower Gel
And also, just as with the body butter, this is my all-time favourite TBS scent.  Sweet, jammy and fruity.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

Dove Purely Pampering Coconut and Jasmine Petals Body Wash
I love anything coconutty, and this has a subtle coconut scent, with the gorgeous aroma of jasmine added in.  I love Dove body washes, so there was no doubt I’d love this.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel
Another Christmas limited edition product, I grabbed the smallest bottle of this body wash just to try out.  Problem was, I loved it and by the time I knew just how much I did, the larger sizes were sold out!  It smells like Turkish delight and leaves my skin clean but not dried out.

Would I repurchase? Yes, when it comes out again at Christmas time. In the meantime, you can still buy the Rose Jam Bubbleroon, which is part of their permanent collection, and smells exactly the same!

Deodorant and Fragrance

Dove Original antiperspirant
I received this free with a magazine (hence it being a mini version), and while I’m not the biggest fan of the original deodorant (it leaves white marks on EVERYTHING), I do love Dove deodorants and will only use their one that doesn’t leave marks on black or white fabrics.  I so wish that Dove would sell the mini sizes, as they’re so much easier for travel, and I really don’t like roll ons.

Would I repurchase?  Only in my selected version, yes.

Dior Addict Eau Fraîche

My dad bought this for me on one of his trips overseas, and it was my absolute fragrance for a long time.  I still love it, but my tastes have matured slightly now, which is why it took me so long to finish this one up.

It’s described on the Dior website as having opening notes of sparkling citrus from sweet-and-sour Grapefruit heightened with the smoothness of Calabrian Bergamot, a heart of subtle Freesia and Lily of the Valley and base Woody notes with White Musk.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but not the big bottle.

TBS Black Musk eau de parfum
I bought this on one of TBS sales, as I loved how it was quite close to YSL Black Opium (which has a crazily high price point).  It’s obviously not completely the same, and most definitely doesn’t have the same lasting power, but I really enjoyed using this, and it was nice to have a similar scent to carry around in my handbag.

It’s described on TBS website as having ‘captivating, feminine notes of bambinella pear, pink pepper and bergamot, embraced by heliotrope and luscious liquorice, and deepened by black vanilla and black musk accords.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Self Tanner

Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse in Dark
I bought this online from overseas, after reading reviews and watching YouTube videos that raved and raved about it.

It was very easy to apply and blend out, however I probably should have gone for the medium rather, as it did look quite obvious that I’d gone from pasty pale to rather dark.  The medium would have been a more natural-looking transition.

It was also a nice natural olive colour, rather than orange.

Would I repurchase? To be honest, no.  It was a once off tester product from the States, and was quite a mission to bring it into the country.  We have some really good local options such as Caribbean Tan and Tan Lab, as well as several places stocking Fake Bake – my number 1 favourite self tan.

Random other

Woolworths Nail Varnish Remover Pads
I got these so long ago I forgot that I had them, and they dried out.  I don’t really wear regular nail varnish anyway, so it wasn’t ever going to be something that I’d use up,  Time to toss!

Would I repurchase? No.
