HAIR CARE EMPTIES

And so another Empties post begins.  As you can see, my hair care empties aren’t anything like my skincare, makeup or body care.  I’ve also been collecting these for a lot longer than the others.  This is pretty much a year’s worth or more!

EMPTY HEAT PROTECTANT/DRY SHAMPOO

GHD Style Curl Hold Spray
I’ve had this for ages, and actually won it for participating in the Beauty Bulletin beauty exchange.  I pretty much just used this as a heat protectant and hold spray when I curled my hair, which I very seldom did when I first got it, but gradually did more and more over the last year.

Will I repurchase it? It was lovely, but I know I can find products that aren’t as expensive that do the same thing, so I don’t know if I’ll repurchase it.

Colab Dry shampoo in Monaco
I also had this forever.  I find these dry shampoos equally as good as the Batiste ones, but I used to buy the Batiste ones more often, as they were a bit cheaper.  These have no colour to them at all, so they don’t leave a white caste in your hair.

Will I repurchase?  Probably yes – I recently went back to darker hair, and the regular Batiste ones make my roots like grey.  I don’t like their Brunette one so this is the next best thing.

Batiste Dry shampoo in Medium Brunette
I bought this as the regular Batiste dry shampoos are white, so they leave a bit of a greyish tinge to my hair.  This, however, seems to be heavier in product and powder than the others.  My hair would feel dirtier using it, and I really didn’t like it.

Will I repurchase? No.  If I wanted my hair to feel dirty, I’d just leave it.  This is supposed to make it feel cleaner.  It doesn’t.

L’Oreal Studio Line Hot and Go spray
This is a heat protectant that helps to shorten blow drying time.  Now, I can’t say much for shortening the time it took to dry my hair, as it doesn’t take that long for me to dry my hair in general, but I liked this as a heat protectant, and it also left my hair feeling smooth and shiny, with no fly-aways.

Would I repurchase?  I already have!

EMPTY SHAMPOO

Goldwell Dual Senses Colour Fade Stop shampoo
I buy this from my hair dresser, and it’s such a great shampoo.  It cleans your hair well, without leaving it feeling stripped or dry, yet it doesn’t leave it feeling sticky or oily.  It smells like pomegranate, and it helps to stop colour from fading.

Will I repurchase? Yes.  I have countless times.

L’Oreal Hair Expertise Pure Colour and Volume shampoo
This is a colour shampoo for flat hair, but they do have one with added moisture in too.  I like, these shampoos, they’re more along the salon-type product that your L’Oreal Elvive products, and they do come with a slightly higher price tag, but they contain no sulphates and they do a great job.

Will I repurchase? Probably not, it was good but I preferred the Everstrong shampoo over this.

L’Oreal Hair Expertise Everstrong shampoo
This shampoo is designed to help strengthen your hair, while providing shine and bounce.  It smells like a spa, due to the rosemary oil, and my hair always felt gorgeous and strong and healthy when I used this.

Will I repurchase? Yes.  This is on my list of shampoo to get once my current one is finished.

EMPTY CONDITIONER/MASKS

L’Oreal Hair Expertise Pure Colour and Volume conditioner
I bought this along with the shampoo, and much like the shampoo, it’s great, does the job, and contains no sulphates.

Would I repurchase?  Probably not – like the shampoo, it worked, but I prefer other conditioners.  I’m keen to try the Everstrong or the Pure Riche conditioners from this range though.

OGX Coconut Water conditioner
I bought this with the matching shampoo from Dischem a while back, and I always finish the shampoo much faster.  It smells divine, and leaves my hair smelling like an island holiday after I’ve washed it.  I loved using this together with the shampoo, my hair always looked super shiny but never weighed down.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I plan on doing so soon.

L’Oreal Hair Expertise Ultra Riche hair mask
A super nourishing hair mask, I bought this while I was still highlighting my hair, in an effort to provide my poor bleached strands with some extra nourishment.  It was absolutely divine, and really did a great job.

Would I repurchase? Yes, probably.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Deeper conditioner
I received this baby from Beauty Bulletin to do a review on it, along with the matching shampoo.  I have to say, together the pair really did help to deepen my colour, making it last longer between washes.

Would I repurchase?  Probably not.  While I loved the shampoo, this just didn’t give my hair enough moisture, and often left it feeling a bit too dry and brittle.

Strange how some things work for some and not for others 🙂 I again really like the JOhn Frieda and find it really moisturizes my hair. I really want to try the OGX Coconut Water range! I am obsessed with coconut and believe it's really nourishing for the hair.
