My beauty favourites for the month of September

I’m so sorry I’m getting this favourite’s post up a bit late – I mean, we’re halfway into the month already!!!  Time is just flying by right now.

So, without any rambling, I’ll start on my favourites from the month of September straight away!

All of my beauty favourites for the month of September

I only really had beauty favourites this month, and they’re some really good ones – some new, and some that I dragged out from the depths of my drawers!

Three of my September Favourites - Lacoste perfume, Tanworx lotion and Ponds Oil control cream

I’ve had this bottle of Lacoste Joy of Pink for ages – I used to wear the Touch of Pink as my staple perfume, but I got given this one ages ago.  It’s just as beautiful and fresh, and now that the seasons have started changing, I like this fresher, lighter fragrance every day.

I got this Tanworx Tan Maintainer in my International Box Swop, and still hadn’t given it a whirl until last month, when I felt like my self tan was just fading too quickly.  I saw this in the bottom of my drawer, and thought I should try it.  I’m so glad I did!  It’s almost like a gradual tanner, but a bit stronger – to the point where, I applied it like a moisturiser, washed my hands, and after two days I could see a definite tan-line around my wrists where I’d washed my hands.  It almost looked like I’d self tanned all over again!  It wasn’t orange, it was completely even, and it lasted so well!  I’ve since figured out that I should apply it all over, wash my hands, and then rub the backs of my hands on my thighs or sides where there’s still lotion.  I don’t have a line then.

The Ponds Lasting Oil Control Vanishing Cream for Normal to Oily skin has been a lifesaver.  It was one of the things I needed for my kit when I started studying Makeup Artistry, and after I had surgery, my skin freaked out and was super oily.  I gave this a try (using a hydrating serum underneath, to stop my skin from drying out), and it worked like a charm.  My makeup lasted SO much longer and looked flawless all day.  Plus, it’s insanely cheap (I think it was less than R40) and you can find it in most grocery stores too!

New makeup brush, MAC lipstick in Velvet Teddy and Stila blush.

I found this Yoonar dupe of the Artis brushes on the Best Beauty Buys website, and at R75 I decided it was worth a try to see if I liked the style of brush for applying foundation.  It feels so incredibly soft and dense, and although I’ve never enjoyed applying my foundation with a brush (I’m more of a beauty sponge gal), this works beautifully.  It’s such an experience applying  my foundation with this.

I used to own MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick, but for the life of me I have no idea what happened to it.  So, on a recent trip to MAC I decided it was time to be reunited.  I haven’t been disappointed, and I love it so much.

This is a super old blush of mine – the Stila All You Need is Love cheek palette.  I dug this up out of my drawer, and haven’t stopped using it since!  It’s super pigmented and you only need a tiny bit to create a lovely flush on the cheeks.  I swirl my brush in all four colours to get a gorgeous pinky shade.  Sadly, as far as I know they no longer sell this product.

Colourpop Lunch Money, L'Oreal False Lash Wings Sculpt and MAC Lingering

It took me a while to get into using my Colourpop Lunch Money highlighter, but now that I am I just LOVE IT.  It’s the best for a really bold highlighted look, and I apply it with my dampened beauty sponge to my cheekbones and nose, and use my finger to apply to my cupid’s bow and brow bones, as well as my inner corner of my eyes.

I’ve been told so often by Camilla from Jane Wonder about how good the MAC Lingering brow pencil is.  I love how very fine the nib is, and it’s so easy to blend, while staying put all day.

I am SO glad I bought the L’Oreal False Lash Wings Sculpt mascara – I was a bit meh about making the purchase, as the wand is so odd, but it’s probably my favourite mascara to date.  It does everything I want a mascara to do, and leaves my lashes looking gorgeous.

  1. Yay! I made an appearance 😉 should we mention I was also with you when you bought Velvet Teddy? hehe

I'm keen on trying one of those Yoonar brushes, was trawling the Best beauty Buys site this morning and I also have my eye on a few other brushes from there!

Ahhhhh of course! I am sooooooo loving my Velvet Teddy.

They're such lovely brushes, and there are so many other goodies on the Best Beauty Buys site – I want to try the Morphe sponges too.
