My Beauty favourites for August 2016

So – spring has sprung, and we’re saying goodbye to the chilly weather!

I won’t lie, I’m sad.  I’m a winter-baby through and through – my birthday is in winter, and I just prefer the season for so many reasons.  But I am enjoying embracing the lighter, fresher side of the season!

These are the goodies that I was loving last month, while the weather gradually got warmer, and I started feeling spring-fever.

BODYCARE

I grabbed this on sale at Clicks, on the 3 for 2 special that TBS were having.  I’m really loving using these body butters again, and this is such a fresh, yummy, spring scent.  It smells like peach Tropika to me, and that is just damn delicious!

I have always loved Vaseline moisturisers, and more often than not you’ll find one of them in my stash at home.  These spray versions were on my wishlist, and I am absolutely loving it! It doesn’t come out in a fine mist, rather just sprays a bit of lotion out, but it’s a continuous spray and does a good job at getting the areas of my back that are harder to reach.  Plus, I love the cocoa butter scent!

SKINCARE

I have had this one on my wishlist for ages too, and it hasn’t let me down.  It really does a great job at moisturising my face and keeping it soft, but it doesn’t feel greasy.  It sinks right in, and I can use it day or night.  It also works really well under makeup.

MAKEUP

I desperately wanted this foundation, despite knowing that it tends to oxidise badly.  I chatted to the lovely sales-girl at Urban Decay in Sandton, and we swatched a few shades on both the back of my hand and my neck, so we could see if they changed differently or at all.  This shade doesn’t change at all on me.  It’s slightly darker than it looks in the bottle, and I can bronze my skin up if I need to.  I would rather go for slightly too light and then fix with powder and bronzer, than go for slightly darker and it oxidises.  If you’re keen on trying out this foundation, just keep that in mind – some of the shades looked perfect when I swatched them, and in less than five minutes they were twice as dark!

I love this blend of 3 different pink shades, they give such a soft, natural flush to the cheeks.  This blusher has been a staple in my makeup bag lately, and I’ve been using it pretty much every day.

I’ve long wanted a nude eyeliner, and during my latest online Colourpop purchase, I popped this one into my basket.  It’s super soft and creamy, and blends very easily.  I’ve been using it not only to brighten up my eyes in my bottom waterline, but to help define my eyebrows and cupid’s bow.  Works like an absolute charm.

For my birthday, I got a Billion Dollar Brows Take Back Your Brows kit, complete with this pencil, tweezers, scissors and a strange contraption to help shape and fill in your brows.  While I haven’t experimented with the others yet, I’ve been loving this eyebrow pencil.  It’s very soft and blends out easily, and it’s water-resistant too.

This soft coral lipstick is sheer and hydrating, so it’s the perfect formula and shade for the upcoming spring months.  I’ve been wearing it to work, as the sunshine has me reaching for lighter formulated makeup, and the colour is just too gorgeous.

This is a cool-toned mauvey-pink nude, and it’s beautiful.  The perfect everyday shade, it’s also quite hydrating, and it smells delicious!

So… those were my favourites from the last month!  What have you been enjoying?

  1. That Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Spray Moisturiser is calling my name – I am SO lazy to moisturise after my bath or shower, I just want to hop straight into pjs.

How do you compare the Billion Dollar Brows pencil to your Soap & Glory Brow Archery? I know you love that one a lot 😉

Last thing! Please may you show us swatches of the lippies? That Rimmel one looks so gorgeous!

The spray lotion really makes moisturising a breeze!

I still prefer the Soap & Glory – but alas, mine is finished. It's just so much finer and the colour is better for me.

I'll try and slap some swatches onto Instagram for you 😉

I'm also pretty sold on that Vaseline spray moisturiser!

It's so good! For some reason, I figured it would be like spray aerosol tanner, so you get like, 3 good uses and then it's finished. But no, it's actual lotion in there, not just a light spray! It really does a great job, and I've used mine every day for 2 weeks and I still have tons left. Super duper impressed.
