So I was super slack in getting a favourites post up in May. I kind of bit off more than I could chew with various commitments, so I wasn’t able to even think about what I was enjoying beauty-wise. However, I’ve thrown together my favourites from the last two months in this post!
I bought this on the recent sale, together with the matching shower gel. However, my local Body Shop doesn’t have any of these older scents in stock, and I actually picked it up in my local Clicks instead, for R60! Such a score! This smells like raspberry jam and sweeties and is so delicious. And of course, you can’t go wrong with TBS body butters – they’re the best of the best!
I’ve never seen this brand before in my life, but they seem to be a rip-off of the Philosophy products found in the UK and the States. The packaging style is very similar, apart from the way they tackily printed the brand name, and they have the same style of printing a recipe for the ‘flavour’ on the bottle, as well as being a 3-in-1 product.
This Orange Cupcake flavour smells delicious, is just what I need in the morning to wake up, as it’s zesty yet sweet. It lathers up beautifully and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped of moisture either. I’ve only used it as a shower gel, and won’t be trying it as a shampoo, but I do intend on trying it as a bubble bath!
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this one before – it’s a toning shampoo that I use once a week to keep any brassy tones in my highlighted hair at bay. It works amazingly well, and this tube has lasted me a good few months. It’s the only purple shampoo I’ve tried that really really works, and this tube is now empty. I have to go and buy another one asap!
My all-time favourite (albeit pricey) face cream. In winter, this is the only thing that saves my skin from dehydration. It is so soothing and moisturising, yet not greasy. Plus it smells delicious!
I bought this after reading a review on All Dolled Up ages ago. It contains a VERY low amount of Retinol in it, which is the key ingredient for anti-ageing products. At first, even though I was using it only every second night, I was worried about my sensitive skin, as it did leave it a little flakey and red. However, this is normal, and now that my skin is used to it, it works like a charm and I can use it every night without any irritation. My skin is left feeling smooth and soft the following day. I do alternate between this and a very hydrating night cream though so I don’t use it every single night.
Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara R139
This is the new mascara offering from Rimmel, and it’s a volumising mascara that is meant to gradually tint your lashes darker. I used it for 2 weeks solid, without using any other mascara, and it works! Granted, it’s a very subtle gradual tint, but my lashes were looking more noticeable than they did before, as they’re quite long, yet at least half of the length is blonde.
Whether it actually will ever tint your lashes significantly, it’s a fantastic volumising mascara, and I’ve been quite torn between my favourite Maybelline Lash Sensational and this, in that, when this runs out I’m not sure which one to repurchase.
You can’t buy this separately, as it comes in a set of Eyelure lashes that I bought a while ago. As far as I recall, it was a beginners set, but I really just liked the look of the lashes in it, and couldn’t find the same ones in a regular box, so I nabbed this one. I am SO glad I did, as this little tool is fab! It makes applying lashes fast and simple, and there’s no faffing involved at all.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Matte Foundation in Radiant Beige R189.95
I won’t lie, I’m guilty of neglect when it comes to this foundation. I got caught up in a whirlwind of trying new foundations and bouncing back to my Estee Lauder Double Wear. However, sometime in the beginning of June, I picked this up again and fell in love with it all over again.
It’s the most longlasting, full coverage foundation, and I have both Radiant Beige and Vanilla and I either alternate between these two, or I mix them for the perfect shade.
I’ve long heard this powder raved about, but only tried it for the first time this year. I haven’t looked back since! It’s incredibly affordable, and really sets my makeup better than others I’ve tried. I use the shade transparent, as it doesn’t really give any colour to my makeup, which is exactly what I’m looking for. It also doesn’t oxidise and change the colour of my makeup throughout the wear-time, which I’ve found some other powders to do.
Catrice Treasure Trove Powder Blush R80
These limited edition products are still available in some Dischem stores, so if you see them, GRAB THEM! I wasn’t too impressed by the other products in the line, but the blush and highlighter were gorgeous. I’ve been travelling on weekends quite a bit, and these are the only blush and highlighter I’ve taken along with me.
The blush is in the shade Caviar & Champagne, and is a gorgeous warm-toned blush with a golden glow to it. It also has great pigmentation and staying power – something I’ve sometimes battled with in Catrice blushes.

The highlighter powder in the shade Golden Grace is also just as gorgeous as the blush (if not more so). It’s a soft champagne-coloured highlighter that doesn’t have chunky sparkle in. Instead it’s a super soft, buttery, glowy dream and just leaves such a soft sheen that it’s going to be a very sad day indeed, when I hit pan on this.
As much as I love this palette (and as much as I clearly love the shade Marzipan – I’ve hit pan on it, and have hit pause on it for a while), I won’t be talking about the palette as a whole. There are two shades that are my favourites for the last two months.
This is a gorgeous golden eyeshadow. It looks a lot darker in the pan that it does when applied to your lid, but it give this beautiful neutral swish of colour, topped with the most gorgeous golden glow.
