It’s been forever since I did a Currently post!  I’ve had so many things over recent months that I’ve raved about so much on social media.  I didn’t see any point just consolidating them into a single post, as I’d just be repeating myself.

This post has been a while in the making, some things I’ve loved consistently over the last couple of months, and some are new to me, yet so good that they needed a mention!

I was sent the SBR Repair Cream and SBR Lipocream recently in a press drop.  Damn I wish I’d known about these before my wedding!  In the build up to our wedding I was suffering with dehydrated skin.  My skin barrier was compromised, making my skin much more sensitive than normal.  I also had a bit of stress-induced eczema on my face.  Also, on the morning of our wedding my skin was an absolute chapped and flakey mess.  Between the icy cold weather in the KZN Midlands in July, and the heating that was constantly on in the bedrooms, I had dehydrated my skin even more.

These creams help to heal chronically dry skin and repair the skin’s barrier with a mix of barrier-enhancing lipids.  The Lipocream is great for chapped, cracked, irritated and sensitive skin, or people who suffer from psoriasis and eczema.  The Repair cream helps to heal the skin’s barrier and is for people who cannot control their exceptionally dry skin with regular skincare.

I’ve used the Lipocream on my chin, and on and around my nose for the last couple of nights – I get very easily irritated skin there, and it’s where I’m usually most dehydrated.  My skin feels less tight and much more comfortable.

I’ve also used the Repair cream on my shins and calves – I have exceptionally dry skin on that area of my legs, and it helped to ease any itching and dryness there.  I’d imagine this would be an amazing winter time night cream for me, and maybe just a great cream for anyone suffering with exceptionally dry skin.  It can be used on any area that is very very dry, or where your skin’s barrier has been compromised due to extreme weather conditions.

You can find it at Dischem – the Lipocream is R54 for 30g and R142.50 for 100g, and the Repair cream is R128.60 for 30g and R259 for 100g.

Colourpop My Little Pony eyeshadow palette

Firstly – I’m obsessed with unicorns, and while My Little Pony isn’t necessarily about unicorns, it’s much of a muchness to me.  I was mad about them when I was little!

Secondly – I love Colourpop products.  I haven’t tried the pressed eyeshadows yet, only the Super Shock ones, and have been keen to try them for a while.

So what better way to enjoy both of these things than with an eyeshadow palette?

I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone of neutrals, bronzes and golds on my eyes, and experiment a bit more.  This palette will not only be a simply beautiful addition to my collection, but it will encourage me to try new eye looks.  It has a nice mix of regular every day shades and brighter colours.

I placed the order the day after this went on sale, and have been jiggling around with excitement in anticipation of it landing on my desk!

We’ve been PVRing episodes of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and then watching them in the evenings.  That man really does see some weird food and he eats it too!  I used to think I was pretty experimental with food.  Now I think I prefer to play it safe!

I saw a preview for the movie The Glass Castle, based on the book by the same name, by Jeannette Walls.  The movie stars Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts and looks phenomenal.  I have yet to see it, but I bought the book and am about halfway through it now.  I wish I had more time to read, and when I do have it, I often read two or three pages and start to get sleepy.  This book is, however, the first one to really grip me in a long time, and I’m loving it!

A movie we watched recently was Split, starring James McAvoy, and by director and write M. Night Shyamalan.  It is TERRIFYING and I was so not prepared for the way the film progressed.  Great film for October, as it’s Halloween month!  James McAvoy is one of the most incredible actors ever.

So after hearing a decent amount of people talking about Pink Cosmetics and their gorgeous brush cleaner, I finally bit the bullet and bought it.  I haven’t looked back!  It really is as good as all of the bloggers and beauty influencers say it is.  I chose the scent Strawberry Champagne, and opted for the brush egg with it (R170 with, R150 without).

Since then, I’ve spent multiple hours browsing the Pink Cosmetics site, looking at what else is on offer.  And I’m lusting after so many different things!  Rather than boring you with a detailed reason why I want each thing, I’ll offer you a link, and you can yearn for them with me 😉

Yummy Lip Scrub in the flavour Tropical Coconut

Facial Mist Spray

Unicorn Dreams brush cleaner

Pretty Little Things (second edition) beauty box

Tony Moly Strawberry Nose Pack – I’ve actually bought some of these off the site already, but want to restock – officially the most effective and yet most gentle pore pack I’ve used.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and Lip Mask

Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Primer

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and Balm Dotcom in Birthday Flavour

Any of their gorgeous bath bombs and body scrubs!

I’m once again on the tea train!  And not any fancy, flavoured or fruity herbal teas.  I mean good old Five Roses (extra strength) with sugar and milk.  I’m having to force myself to drink water during the day, and limit myself to a cup of tea in the morning, one at night and one during my work day.

I am ALL about sneakers, and have been for a while.  I have the gold Supergas and the regular black ones and the two pairs are my most worn shoes in my wardrobe.

I’ve been longing for the rose gold pair, and the regular plain white pair for a while now, and plan on making at least one of these mine before the year ends!

Image of Minky’s feed on Instagram.. gorgeous, right?!

If you are on the lookout for a great place to vacation or eat here in South Africa, then Minky’s is your Instragrammer of choice!  She offers gorgeous images of food and destinations, and on her blog does amazing reviews on the restaurants and holiday spots.  You can find her on the tag

On YouTube, it’s been a while since I discovered someone I really enjoyed.  Kasey Rayton is by no means NEW, but I only just started watching her on YouTube and I absolutely love her!  She’s gorgeous, and her videos are great.

What have your current loves/hates been?  Anything I should hear about?

Hi. Great read! Thank you. I think it is fair to say that you are one of the hardest working bloggers that I follow. Keep it coming ????

    1. Siobhan

      Thank YOU.
I don’t think you’ll ever know how much that comment means to me. It’s very hard blogging part time while you maintain a full time day job.
It’s just a case of trying your best, and not beating yourself up if you can’t keep your blogging schedule consistent enough.

I feel your pain. You are doing a great job though . I look forward to your blog posts.

I think you definitely need those Superga’s and so do I. If you buy them, I’ll buy them too – I have had my eye on them for ages! The colour is beautiful and Superga’s are SO comfortable!

      It’s a pleasure – and the truth!

Those Superga’s are the best, and I’ve worn my other two pairs to death now.. the gold ones are fraying, and I’m trying to find a way to preserve them..

  5. Hey Shivvy! I love readying these posts 🙂
Looks like I should get my hands on that Lipocream, I’m sooo dry and flaky around my nostrils after my recent foray into using Roaccutane, boo.
I am now dying to try Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, I saw Zoella’s latest vid last night and she put it in her September Faves – must try! I am also going to try get a Fenty Beauty foundation when I am in the UK! Eeeep!

      Aaaahhh thank you! xxx

It’s really good, but I actually think the Repair cream is super duper good. I took it with me this weekend to Granny Mouse (after a bit of an incident when I left the Kate Somerville Exfolikate on for longer than specified) and it was my saving grace!
