It took me a long while to go through all of my products and really think hard about whether I’d repurchase them or not, and if so – would I continue to repurchase again and again?
I’m no commitment phobe – in fact, loyalty is a strength of mine. However, could I actually commit to just one makeup remover (if I was held at gunpoint.. then again, who’d be holding a gun to my head over a beauty product?!)? Just one foundation? It’s really not easy!
I have, however narrowed it down to 5 products that I’ve repurchased at least a handful of times. And products, I’d continue repurchasing, because nothing else quite matches up to them.
I’ve tried all three of the Garnier micellar waters, and both types of the facial wipes that we have available here in South Africa – the Micellar Pure Active (for oilier skins), the Micellar Sensitive (for all skin types, including sensitive), the Micellar Oil-Infused (for dry and sensitive skins), the Micellar Extra-Gentle Wipes and the Micellar Oil-Infused Wipes.
After trying them all, I definitely have my preferences – Pure Active for summer, Oil-Infused for winter, and the travel sized bottle or wipes of the Sensitive range for travel.
Either way, I’ve tried quite a few micellar waters now, and this is probably the absolute best – tied with Bioderma Sensibio, but at a fraction of the cost.
I’ve only become obsessive in the last couple of years about applying sunscreen to my face, neck and chest every single day.
I hate those greasy, sticky sunscreens that leave a white caste on my face, and this is anything but.
Bioderma is fabulous for sensitive skins like mine, and this sunscreen sinks straight in, leaving no whiteness, no stickiness and no grease at all. Plus it’s SPF50+, so it’s super high protection.
I’ve tried countless BB creams that all have so many claims, yet don’t pull through on them. A BB cream is ultimately meant to be a tinted moisturiser that treats, hydrates, evens skin tone, protects with an SPF, helps to brighten the skin, and provide some coverage. None of the BB creams I’ve tried have been able to compete with this little gem from Sorbet.
It has decent coverage, and is even great when I’ve had a skin reaction, to cover and soothe. It isn’t greasy, and it’s great to take away on holiday, or even use every single day, with a little concealer, in place of foundation.
Sorbet have recently re-done the range, and now have 2 light shades, so the paler-skinned girls who battled with this original light shade can now enjoy this wonderful BB cream!
I used to always be a die-hard Estee Lauder Double Wear fan, until I tried this foundation. While I still love Double Wear, it’s become so pricey, and to be honest this foundation does almost exactly the same job, as well as being a little more matte which I like. And for a much lower price!
I use the shade 11 Vanilla as my ‘winter skin’ shade and 22 Radiant Beige as my ‘summer skin’ shade, but I also mix the two often to get as close to my current skin tone as possible.
I’ve tried so many powders, and they either don’t do the job, smell funny, or aren’t quite the right shade. This transparent shade seems light at first, but after a couple of minutes it melts right into the foundation or BB cream I’m using, setting it without changing the colour.
It keeps my face matte during the day, doesn’t leave it cakey and is super affordable. I always have two of these on hand at any given time, just in case something happens to one.
