This past weekend, I had my very first appointment as an artist on the Dyme Beauty App.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the app by now? Described as the ‘Uber of beauty’, you download the app, select what kind of appointment you’re after (skincare, nails, massage, hair and makeup being a few), and then select a professional to help you. They’ll then provide you with your treatment in the comfort of your own home or your office!
The app is super simple to work around too. Basic instructions are joined with a ‘Chat With Dyme’ feature, so that any concerns or questions you may have can be addressed straight away.
Being an artist, I have a separate app to the consumer, and it’s just as easy to work with as the other. You sign up, enter all your details, provide proof of your qualifications, and wait for an agent to contact you. An interview, demo and app-training then take place, and you’re good to go! As an artist or professional, you can then select when you’re free to work, and take on clients at your own leisure.
What I particularly liked was the process of the treatment. I arrived (the app reminds you about your appointment, and sends the client a message saying that you’re on your way). You click start when you begin, and (with the makeup section at least) you end off with a signature and photos of your work. Simple, easy and all recorded in the app for you.
My client for the day was Camilla from Jane Wonder – a friend, and beauty blogger, whom I know is quite fussy with how her makeup is applied. She was attending a St Patrick’s Day event later that evening, and so wanted something festive and green. We went with a smokey green eye, complete with some fluffy lashes. She was happy with the look, and I loved seeing her with something a little different and more dramatic than her usual. She looked gorgeous!
As a makeup artist who has a full-time day job, I honestly think the Dyme app has a lot to offer for me. I can select when I’m free to work and be assigned clients only during those times. It’s a fabulous way to ensure I get out there more as an artist, and gives me greater client reach than I would have otherwise. Independent beauty professionals or artists would really benefit from it greatly.
And what’s even better than a mobile beauty service? A discount with your first appointment, that’s what! With the promo code DYME150 you can get R150 off your first appointment, so download the app and check it out!
Dyme are also holding a competition at the moment – check out the Dyme Facebook and Instagram pages for a chance to win an Unvarnished Pamper Party, the ultimate luxury pamper night experience.
