Yesterday I attended the Grand Opening of the Ster-Kinekor cinema complex at the new Watercrest shopping centre in Waterfall.
There were smiles all-round from the staff on duty for the Grand Opening. Thirst bartenders made sure we always had a full glass of wine or champagne, as well as having some delicious fresh juices and lemonade on hand, and Waterfall SuperSpar catered the event, with some incredibly tasty finger food. We were treated to a marimba band concert, and had a dancing act show us their skills with a short demonstration.
When it was time to enter the cinema for a premiere screening of ‘San Andreas’ in 3D, we were provided with sodas of our choice and boxes of popcorn, and were allowed to seat ourselves (we bagged the middle of the back row – score!) in the beautiful brand-spanking new cinema, where Sky from ECR and the General Manager both gave a brief speech on the new cinema and the movie we were about to see.
Starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, the movie ‘San Andreas‘ details an earthquake starting at Hoover Dam and going all the way up the West coast ending in San Francisco, and rescue-chopper pilot Ray’s (The Rock) mission to save his daughter from the multiple earthquakes and tsunami.
Once the movie was over (and we had all stopped gripping the edge of our seats), we headed out to be greeted by fruit skewers, mini cupcakes and little personal first aid kits for each person attending (obviously to go with the theme of the movie).
All in all, it was such a fantastic evening, and Watercrest and Ster-Kinekor truly spoilt all of the attendees!
