Last week I had the great honour of attending the launch of a brand new store at The Pavilion. A store we’ve needed for quite some time in KwaZulu Natal. The store, Bras N Things, is a lingerie store that stocks gorgeous lingerie, sleepwear and swimwear – and sells bigger cup sizes, a thing that I battle to find.
I have the unfortunate (in my eyes) situation of having a pretty narrow back (I’m currently a 34 thanks to hormonal weight gain from my endo treatment, but I’m usually a 32 back) and a large cup size. Do you have ANY IDEA how hard it is to find bras that fit this well, are comfortable, but are still pretty?
Bras N Things is an Australian brand that reminds me so much of Forever New it’s crazy. I literally walked in, and the style of the gorgeous items and the advertising were pretty similar. In fact, after spending some time in the store and judging the quality of the beautiful goods, it’s the Forever New of lingerie! Pricing ranges from very affordable (basic knickers in fabulous quality fabric are on par with the same from Woolworths) to super luxe (think La Senza pricing and up, but in my honest opinion the quality and style is more sophisticated, less cute and funky).
There is definitely something for everyone – small boobs, big boobs, brides, sporty gals, girls who want some good quality, simple basics and the ladies who want to add some spice into their lingerie life.
The ladies working in the Bras N Things store are incredibly friendly, and will get you fitted to the perfect size bra for your girls, and then help you find whatever it is you’re looking for in store. All with a big smile and a healthy dose of advice. I was seriously impressed.
However, what really impressed me most was the fact that the lingerie comes in bigger cup sizes. Far too often, you’ll find gorgeous underwear, only to find out they don’t sell anything larger than a C cup. Here, the underwear goes up to a G cup bra, and not just the boring, plain styles – you get some truly gorgeous items in these sizes.
The swimwear also comes in larger cup sizes, and a lot of them have underwire in for that extra bit of support for us lasses who are supremely blessed in the chesticle region. I even found a gorgeous bikini that is reversible, a dream for someone like me, who finds ONE bikini that fits well, and then wears it to shreds.
For the ladies who need some extra oomph in their swimwear, you can even grab a pair of the push up inserts specially made for your bikini.
Other extras include a whole wall of tape, nipple covers, bra extenders and goodies to alter the style of your bra. Plus, silicone stick on bras in a number of sizes! There’s even a mini kit that contains everything from hairbands to nail varnish – perfect for brides-to-be.
Personally, I’ll be back for the sleepwear and gorgeous gowns. I love sleeping in sleep shirts and very soft pjs, and the Bras N Things store has some really beautiful stuff in stock.
Last but not least, the store gifted each of us there for the launch, with a personal fitting and a bra of our choice. I opted for the black and nude Concilla Full Cup Bra, and it is not only gorgeous and slightly vintage looking, it’s insanely comfortable, with soft lace, thick black satin edging and extra boning on the sides for smoothing.
Thank you so much to Bras N Things for the lovely introduction to the brand – I’ll definitely be back for more!
Those are super hot! Wish we had one in Cape Town too
